In regard to the botanical sculpture . . .
We have purpose to cull from our lives.
I create botanical sculpture because I enjoy it and I believe it's important work. While the exploratory process of mimicking nature is a tedious pursuit, my object studies have symbolic meaning as well. The graceful old oak tree does not exist without first the mighty acorn. Form, texture and color of a recognizable acorn interest me; so does the poetry of the stages of fruit.
Botanical objects are commonly presented in multiple packs and packets. They become totemic when out-sized for presentation.
I design my sculpture so that it occupies specific space with purpose and meaning. Its force in size is meant to suggest possibility.
